About Nick
Nicholas K. Noctum was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1990. He attended Northeastern University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in Boston, class of 2013. Though he never practiced, he maintained his curiosity and love for the sciences. After college, he worked in the medical device field with a specialty in wound-healing and burn treatment. In 2021, he joined a regenerative medicine company where he would spend five days a week on a plane, traveling the country to work with burn surgeons and victims. While flying, he experienced a spark of inspiration, and decided to follow the thread. Since childhood, he had a deep love for science fiction, growing to appreciate the greats in sci-fi like Aldous Huxley, George Orwell, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, and many others. Nicholas used his time on countless flights to create the Vitalerium Series and its universe. The majority of the Vitalerium novel was written at 36,000 feet. He has six books planned in the Vitalerium Series and continues to craft
the narrative of Roman Matthews.
The book
The year is 2701. Humanity’s discovery of the element Vitalerium and its utility as a fuel source has culminated in a vast, multiplanetary civilization capable of exploring the cosmos. The Coalition for Prosperity, which governs planet Deorum, is centered around this illustrious gravity-bending blue crystal.
Roman Matthews, a roughneck freelancer with ties to shady organizations on Deorum, receives a call from his old mentor to take on a dangerous job that unearths trauma from his troubled past. Though reluctant to accept, the money offered is too good—besides, it fuels his desire for revenge.
Following a near-fatal disaster, Roman becomes unwittingly trapped at the center of a harrowing conspiracy much larger than himself. Hunted by Overseer Zerris Aganon, the most powerful figure on planet Deorum, Roman struggles to survive against the Coalition’s forces by teaming up with unexpected allies who reignite his sense of purpose.
While navigating a world of corruption and danger, Roman begins to discover that the conflict he’s been thrusted into threatens to disturb the delicate balance of their advanced civilization. As Zerris Agnon prepares to put his long-held plans into motion, the proverbial pendulum begins to swing in the direction of chaos.
